EXPLORING the area
We are lucky enough to see Pendle Hill in all it's glory from our little glamping site. Famous for its witches and witchcraft, it brings in visitors from far and wide to explore its fascinating history. The trials of the Pendle witches in 1612 are among the most famous witch trails in English history, and some of the best recorded of the 17th century.
The twelve accused lived in the area surrounding Pendle Hill in Lancashire, and were charged with the murders of ten people by the use of witchcraft. All but two were tried at Lancaster Assizes on 18–19 August 1612, and have become known as the famous Lancashire witch trials.
Once you've visited all the unusual quirky villages, been on a ghost walk and climbed Pendle Hill why not visit the Cackling witch shop in Clitheroe for all your witchcraft mementoes!

We are also a stone's throw from The Tolkien Trail, a beautiful walk along rivers and through woodland and countryside, with lots of wildlife to spot! It is known that J.R.R Tolkien stayed in Stonyhurst for most of his time during World War Two, and whilst he was working on his novel 'The Lord Of The Rings'. If you're lucky, you may be able to pick out some key inspiration used in his books in the surrounding area! Make sure to check out our honesty shop which stocks many Tolkien Trail leaflets, with a map and information included.
